At Shap Shap, we use a holistic approach to provide the communities with social development programs that feed into each other. We focus on community development at the grassroots level and our goal is to educate and inspire people living in the most remote parts of South Africa. For over 6 years, Shap Shap has been working to give people in rural communities access to important information, education programs and skills development courses, so that individuals can have access to a better quality life and strive for better living conditions.

We operate from two permanent community centres in KwaNyuswa and Hammarsdale, as well as from schools, community halls and on a home to home basis. Shap Shap programs provide support in some of the poorest and most underprivileged regions, creating opportunities for those in need to learn and thrive. We run a range of upliftment projects for the community with a focus on basic education and skills development, youth development. Shap Shap also runs social empowerment programs, such as our feeding schemes, creche refurbishment work and Gogo’s groups.
